Riverbed No Longer DryLast week I put up some photos from our recent trip to Lanzarote. I decided to leave out the fact that it rained for a lot of the holiday!

Don’t get me wrong there were some clear spells but there was also a lot of rain. Today’s post is going to show the other side of our holiday…

I don’t mind the occasional rain shower but some of the rain was quite heavy. Lucky I had my waterproof coat really and it was required a few times…

Supposedly it was some of the heaviest rain they have had in 15 years!

It was still a lot warmer than back in good old Blighty though…

Sunset PhotographyI can have real difficulty making some of the most simple decisions…

When out and about and I come across an amazing site I can take a while deciding whether I should try and photograph the subject or get the video camera out instead. Hopefully the subject is still around when I have finally made my decision!

I like both mediums but for completely different reasons. I think video makes it much easier to capture an event, especially if it involves some kind of action. Sometimes though a great photo is worth hours of average video recordings…

Luckily I can make my decision before I venture out by only taking my DSLR or my video camera. But for how much longer is this going to be the case…

Christmas TreeChristmas is a wonderful time of year, especially for all the children out there, grown up or not. It’s great watching my grandchildren’s faces as they open all their presents…

Overindulgence is pretty much par for the course for everyone. Enjoying all the treats and trimmings for only a few special days. Can’t be anything too bad in that can there?

As a change I thought I would try something a little different this week and so I thought I would record a little video message to say a big thank you to everyone…

King KongA few weeks ago I got myself an Apple TV. I wrote a review soon afterwards which mentioned that video may need converting before being able to view it.

As the title suggests this post shows how I go about converting videos. This will make the video suitable for adding to your iTunes collection in a format which will allow you to stream the video to an Apple TV.

The idea is that this post can be a reference for anyone who is interested but may be a but on the dull and technical side for any casual reader so feel free to skip this one, just make sure you come back next week…

Apple TV (2nd Generation)I recently bought myself a 2nd generation Apple TV for the front room. Now I have had it up and running for over a week I thought I should post a quick review of the device.

I have had a computer connected to my main TV for about 5 years now but it was slowly getting used less and less as the time it takes to power up was not very practical. I decided to look at what main uses I required and then set about finding a replacement with a quicker bootup process. As you can probably guess by now I ended up going with the Apple TV. I am not exactly an Apple fanboy but I do have an iPhone and love the simplicity of the interface so that helped make that choice.

So let’s get into what my requirements were and how the Apple TV stacks up…

Bungy Jump

By Pete O'Shea

Bungy JumpI can fly… Or maybe I can fall really fast and scream like a girl…

Yeah this week’s post is another video from my bucket list.

I was planning on posting something else entirely but time was running out and I desperately wanted to post something on time to keep up with my resolution. So I thought I would follow on from my skydive video with the other video I picked up on my travels.

While travelling around New Zealand I was persuaded into jumping off a bridge. Luckily I was strapped to a big rubber band so I managed to survive the ordeal. I can assure you that the screaming was simply a side effect of all the alcohol I had consumed the night before…

SkydiveThis week I thought I would try something a bit different. I thought it might be nice to add a video…

So I picked something I have already done from my bucket list. Skydiving. Yes that’s me in the picture, I’m the one in the fetching green jumpsuit.

Uploading the video proved to bit a bit more complicated than I was expecting as well as giving me a few things I want to write about here.

Anyway I did this tandem skydive in Cairns while I was travelling around Australia back in 1999, about November I think. Hopefully you should be able to see the video below somewhere.
