Join the Travel Hacking CartelI have recently come across the idea of Travel Hacking. This is basically a way to get the most out of the free upgrades and free flights around the world available from the different airlines by collecting Frequent Flyer Miles.

I used to collect AirMiles many years ago as my credit card used to ward them to me just for using the card. I think I got a free flight or two to Europe over the years but nothing to write home about.

Then the credit card company stopped giving away the free miles and my AirMiles account just lapsed…

Recently I came across the Travel Hacking Cartel. This is a paid for membership site which provides information on how best to collect and use your miles with regular new deals being posted with some great opportunities.

This was set up by Chris Guillebeau whose blog, The Art of Non-Conformity, I have been following for quite a while now.

I have also read some of his ebooks and even have a copy of his actual book, also named The Art of Non-Conformity, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet…

Anyway what I was trying to say is that I was fascinated by the travelling experiences of Chris, and I considered myself quite well travelled until I read about some of the places he has been to. If he’s going to share some tips on how to get the most out of my travel then I thought it must be worth a look.

There are so many different airline programs to join and there are some interesting ways to use the miles collected to get much better rewards than just using them against the airline they were collected from…

Unfortunately a lot of the big offers, like 50,000 miles just for opening a new credit card, are only available to readers from the US. There are quite a few offers that are available worldwide and there is also a guarantee on the Travel Hacking Cartel site that states that you are guaranteed to receive 100,000 miles a year for just 30 minutes a month following up on the deals they send out.

With free flights costing around 25,000 miles that’s 4 free flights a year. Or maybe just one extra special one…

Anyway I haven’t been signed up for long and have only just started collecting miles so I cannot give a proper appraisal yet but thought that some of you may be interested…

Happy travelling…
