Earlier this week I celebrated my third wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife, Shirley. And what an amazing life we now have together.
To celebrate we went to Rome for a few days, somewhere I have never been before. So you can expect a few photos in the not too distant future. In fact I’m not sure why Rome wasn’t on my bucket list?
Luckily we both have a passion for travelling and have already visited many great places together. We will have to start thinking about where to go for our next anniversary…
I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of the beautiful photos from that wonderful day three years ago. It was the perfect day and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
It has been very hard trying to pick the limited number of photos to show but hopefully this will give you a good overview of the whole day.
Insights into Married Life
I do not claim to be an expert in marital relations but if there is one piece of advice I would like to pass on after my fairly limited experience with married life it’s this:
No-one is perfect and everyone is different. This means that there will always be some times when you have differing opinions about something. Talk to each other, about everything, at every opportunity.
From my point of view the most important thing is that you discuss things as soon as they become an issue rather than leave it until the issue blows up into a huge problem. By then it is a lot harder to sort things out…
If you talk things out early you usually find that there was a simple misunderstanding. Even if that’s not the case it is usually easy to find some common ground.
Anyway enough of my ramblings, time for some photos. Lets start with the flowers which were provided by
We tied the knot at Oakhampton Park, near Wiveliscombe. For some reason the website appears to be down at the time of writing.
I was in a kilt for the day and we had the bagpipes to go with it.
The great thing about this venue is that there were rooms available for selected family and friends to stay with us for the whole weekend.
We couldn’t have asked for a better setting and the weather came out for us. In fact the whole event was pretty much perfect.
There were some great facilities including a swimming pool, jacuzzi and clay pigeon shooting. This was me on the morning of the wedding.
The Happy Couple
This is a great wide-angled shot showing off Shirley’s dress.
Here we are with beaming smiles showing just how happy we are together.
A quick stroll across the lawn to show off our outfits in full.
Here we are with both of Shirley’s daughters and their respective husbands, along with our grandson Callum and Charlie.
Lastly in this section is our first dance.
Now onto a few of the guests. Here is Shirley with her maid of honour, Carol.
Next up we have me and the groomsmen, consisting of my best man Gary along with my brother and Bob as ushers.
This is Shirley with her two beautiful daughters, who were also the bridesmaids.
Me and my brother, Terry.
And lastly a photo from inside the marquee during the speeches.
