My wife and I recently went on holiday to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you some of the photos from the trip.
We booked our holiday to the Canary Islands from Alpharooms.com which turned out to have the cheapest on offer. We stayed at a place called Los Ficus in Costa Teguise.
We didn’t do too much sightseeing as this holiday was purely meant for rest and recuperation. I did manage to cross something off my Bucket List though which was great fun…
I have started experimenting with uploading my photos to Flickr so you should be able to click through and view larger versions if you want. Please let me know if you have any issues viewing the pictures.
There is even an option to view these photos as a slideshow. Just bear in mind this is new to me so there may well be a few teething problems…
Hotel
We went all inclusive to try and keep the cost down and the food was great. Not sure about having to wear the day-glow band for the whole week though. We did treat ourselves a couple of times and ate out. Eating in the same place every night can take away a bit of the fun…
Anyway all in for flights, all inclusive accommodation for a week and even hotel transfers for both of us came to under £620! Bargain…
Time for some photos. Well just to warn you these were taken with my Pentax Optio W30 waterproof camera as I didn’t want to lug around my DSLR on this trip. They don’t make this camera anymore but check out the Pentax Optio W80 or the Pentax Optio W90 for more up to date models. They have the advantage of being able to use them under the water as well as being an reasonable compact camera…
I love the slogan on my t-shirt…
A view from the balcony of our room.
Sunbathing
One of the top priorities of a good relaxing holiday is a bit of time in the sun…
First up it’s time to find a good stretch of beach…
This is Costa Teguise beach which was only a few minutes from the hotel.
The view from the sun loungers we decided on.
Shirley’s taking in the sun.
Making the most of the first sun I’d seen in a while.
Snorkelling
We couldn’t just sit there though. At least I can’t…
I get a bit bored just sat still so we took our snorkelling stuff with us and took advantage of them whenever we could…
There were loads of fish to see just off the beach. Here is a selection of the different fish we saw. Not sure what some of the are but, hey, they were pretty…
Submarine Trip
Next up we decided to take a trip. We chose to go on a submarine which just so happened to be on my bucket list…
We saw a flyer for Submarine Safaris and the decision was made!
This is the submarine that took us down to about 40 metres below the sea…
This shipwreck is known as the Lanzarote Titanic.
While resting on the bottom a diver circles around the sub feeding the fish.
This leads to a fenzy as all the fish follow the diver.
Exploring
We did take off for a bit of an explore on foot as well. We found a footpath near the hotel that took us out into the wilderness and then back to another beach a bit further down the coast.
The view inland was impressive with the mountains in the distance.
After a while we started to get concerned that we were in the middle of nowhere…
Eventually though we found our way back to the beach.
We found some rock pools amongst the black rocks.
There was a lot lot of birds around as well…
